FUN & GAMES by Lee Teng Poh

In our upcoming exhibition, Lee Teng Poh revisits some of his childhood memories. With drawings in ink, he reflects on the places he hung out and the games that brought him joy; the chaos of a fast paced Mahjong game, or the start-up sound of a Playstation 1 console. They evoke a wave of nostalgia about growing up in the 90's. The work explores how games and free time help us connect with ourselves and each other. Each drawing celebrates the joy of simple, carefree times spent alone or together.

Lee Teng Poh works as an artist and barber for the queer community in Utrecht. Growing up between Dutch and Chinese-Malay culture in the 90's, art and creativity has always been his escape and a means of self-expression. Lee likes to apply humor and irony to challenge his surroundings. His style is often inspired by culture (clashes), animation and tattoo-related imagery.
